Well, based on Tom’s discussion at our last Zoom mtg, it got me thinking about analyzing some of my sim vs actual data. So here’s a start….this is for The Stinky Sewer Pipe Rocket that has flown mainly on J’s and K’s over the course of several years. The actuals are the average of the 2 on-board altimeters. A lot more analyses can be done, but I was encouraged by this first look for one rocket.
Another add/edit: The data were obtained at launches in TX, NM, KS, IL, MI, OH, and IN.

Looks like the sim is coming in both high and low compared to the actual height. I am guessing you didn't change the drag info in the simulation so most likely caused by actual wind speed vs sim wind speed or is there that much variation in motor performance?

Yes, no change on drag. Also, I never measured actual launch rail angle. Changes there along with actual wind speed off rail can really influence raw altitude. Weathercocking would result in lower altitude. Motor variation is also there.
