From ROCINews - Volume 1, Issue 8 Here is another useful little item that you can make from PVC pipe. It is a cradle you can use to hold your rocket while prepping, transporting, or just for displaying. What I like about it is that you can make it any size you need. I used 1/2 inch fittings and pipe for the ones I made.
Here is what you will need to make a cradle suitable for 3 or 4 inch diameter rockets
2 - PVC cross sections 8 - 90 degree elbows 1 - 8 foot length of PVC pipe Assembly is pretty straightforward. For this one you will need to cut 8 4" long pieces of pipe to form the uprights and 4 10" long pieces for the spanners. See figure 1. Place an elbow on one end of each of the 4" pieces and insert the other end into a fitting of the cross sections. See figure 2. Now add the 4 10" pieces between the two end sections. See figure 3. That’s all there is to it. You could wrap foam, carpet, or cloth around it to keep from scratching you rockets. I just lay a towel over mine. As you can see this could be made to any size you need. Well that’s it for this course of PVC 102.
