Just wanted to post a message about this weekend launch. There will be a scheduled Saturday launch. Wind looks like 15 to 20 mph. Looks like Sunday's weather will not allow us to launch. There will be lots of rules to follow. I will post them. We can only allow 25 people at the launch. Check back later for updates. Thanks....Lee Berry.......

We have been given the opportunity by our friends at ROCI to provide a high-power launch at the AMA International Aeromodelling Center in Muncie, Indiana on Saturday, May 9 from 11am to 5pm. Setup will be at 10am at the field. For familiarity’s sake we will be using mostly WSR equipment (pads and launch system)

The waiver ceiling is 6000’ AGL, so plan your flights accordingly, including deployment regimes and recovery.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: Indiana’s health professionals have decided to allow gatherings of 25 people. While at the field, we are requiring the following to adhere to the local regulations:

1. While you are on site, you MUST wear a mask or similar suitable face covering AT ALL TIMES.

2. All vehicles must be parked with a minimum of 6’ of open space between each other. So if you see an opening between two cars, please do not pull between them and select another spot to park.

3. You should plan to bring your own food and refreshments for consumption at the field. There will be no communal water bottles or coolers.

4. Whoever is running the LCO table will be required to wear gloves at all times; a supply will be made available. (Individual members are strongly encouraged to bring their own gloves; they can be the same ones that you would use to assemble an engine reload.)

5. As always, please do your best to maintain social distancing when moving about the field, the prep area, and the flight line.

6. If more that 25 members show up, someone will have to leave or you will be asked to return at a later time.

7. We will have a sign up sheet. With flyers names and phone numbers.

8. Also remember to use hand sanitizer. Bring a bottle or we will have a couple bottles on the RSO and LCO table.

9. Comply with all NAR safety rules.

Lee Berry put in a great deal of work to make this launch happen and enlisted a number of people to cover the necessary bases with the FAA, the AMA, and ROCI. Please give them an air high-five when you see them.

We are keeping a close eye on the weather. Conditions are borderline acceptable right now, but the main concern is wind; it will be coming out of the northwest at a potential sustained 15mph with gusts to 20.

We will make a final go/no-go decision no earlier than 8pm on Friday night, so stay tuned to our normal communication channels. We do not want to have people driving 2 hours to Muncie only to get blown out. Keep your fingers crossed!

Good luck guys! Happy flying...bring 'em all back alive!
THANKS to the WSR folks for their efforts!

I'm still having health issues, nothing to do with covid, and won't be able to attend.

I plan to be there. I'll have a couple to fly with chute releases. A PML Black Brant X on a J354 (2000 ft) and a LOC EZI-65 on a G80 (850 ft).
