Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

Level 1 Certification Question 12 years 6 months ago #180

I'm hoping this is my year to start with the certification process. There seems to be lots of info. on the Web. General question, are most high power certified ROCI members also Tripoli members? I am trying to figure out what the advice is from rocketeers I know.

I'd say that most are not Tripoli members. I know I'm not.

I would say the vast majority of ROCI members are NAR but we might have some that are dual. What is nice is that NAR and Tripoli (TRA) accept each other's certifications when joining the other org. For example, if you're NAR certified level 1 and you want to join TRA, just show them a copy of your NAR certification card and you'll join TRA as level 1.

I'm planning on joining TRA this year so I can go to some experimental launches.

OK, Thanks for the info. Do we know of anyone else in ROCI planning on doing a Level 1 attempt this year?

I think this is my year to finally try Level 1 too Steve. I've been threatening for the last 2 or 3 years, but never seem to find the time. I now have the kit, and have actaully started building it.
